Dr. Thomas was named the 2021 Florida Nurse Practitioner Network Nurse Practitioner of the Year!
Dr. Jacqueline Thomas is an amazing UWF assistant professor for many reasons, such as her 23 years of FNP experience, her management in various education programs, and her leadership in community health service organizations. Not surprisingly, we can add a recent award to her list of distinctions. Last week we found out that Dr. Thomas was named the 2021 Florida Nurse Practitioner Network Nurse Practitioner of the Year!
Dr. Thomas tells us “it’s a humbling experience.” When asked how she feels about receiving the award, her gift for educating future nurses was clearly evident. “I feel as if I need to do more for my profession. I served as the first (local network) president and represented our group at leadership meetings.”
The UWF School of Nursing director Dr. Crystal Bennett reports that “Dr. Thomas has demonstrated she is a strong advocate for nurse practitioner practice in our community and across the state. Our students will learn from one of the best and be inspired to become active in nurse practitioner advocacy efforts!” Dr. Thomas, we are so thankful you are teaching at UWF!
