Dr. Melinda Bowers
Dr. Melinda Bowers serves as Associate Vice President of Administration, Facilities and Operations. In this role, she oversees all areas of facilities and operations: facilities planning and construction, facilities maintenance, buildings and grounds management, and utility services. Dr. Bowers also serves as the Director of the Emerald Coast. In this role, she provides administrative oversight and guidance for all Emerald Coast operations, facilities, and budgets.
Prior to joining UWF in 2013, Dr. Bowers was the Dean of Professional and Continuing Education at Northwest Florida State College (NWFSC). During her 20+ years of service at NWFSC, Dr. Bowers provided administrative leadership, budgetary oversight, and day-to-day supervisory support for more than ten departments. She was a lead member of the Facilities Planning Team, the College Assessment Team, and served as the SACS Liaison for over ten years. Dr. Bowers currently teaches for the Division of Business and Computer Technology at NWFSC as an adjunct professor.
Dr. Bowers serves on the Okaloosa/Walton United Way Board of Directors, the Mattie Kelly Arts Foundation Board of Directors, and the Economic Development Council Executive Committee and Business Leadership Council. In addition, she is a member of the National Association of Branch Campus Administrators (NABCA) and the Association of Physical Plant Administrators (APPA).
Dr. Bowers is an alumna of the University of West Florida where she received a Doctor of Education degree with a concentration in Curriculum and Instruction/Diversity Studies. She earned her master’s degree in Management from Troy State University and a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from the University of West Florida.
