UWF Veterans Mentoring Program
The Veterans Mentoring Program was developed by and for Veterans to assist all Military Affiliated students on their academic journey.
A full-time Mentor Coordinator (MeCo) is an advocate for and assists Military Affiliated students attending UWF. The MeCo is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) available to offer guidance to students and introduce them to other valuable resources both on and off campus.
Additionally, the MeCo monitors Military Affiliated students’ GPA to determine their status as related to maintaining eligibility for UWF and VA education benefits. If and when a student is displaying academic distress and may be in jeopardy of losing benefits eligibility, the MeCo will reach out to the student to offer assistance.
The Mentor Coordinator (MeCo), Lori Milkeris, LCSW, is located in Building 38, Room 113 and can be reached at (850) 474-2550 or firstname.lastname@example.org. The MeCo offers assistance in these and other areas:
- Mentor assignment
- Tutoring Assistance
- Disability services
- Coping skills
- Conflict resolution (between you and anyone on campus)
- Veterans Skills & Support Group
- Dialogues on the Experience of War
Note from your MeCo...
My name is Lori Milkeris and my hope is that I can help you in this chapter of your life. I would like to help you manage challenges you might have on or off campus. I can support you from your first day to graduation. As a Veteran and UWF graduate, I understand the struggle you are going through while trying to navigate this new world of academia. I am a member of the ADA and Commencement committee here on campus as well as the EscaRosa Financial Stability Coalition in Pensacola because I want to advocate for anyone who needs to be heard and educate anyone in need. I understand life can be stressful and overwhelming. I look forward to assisting you and hope you know, you are not alone!
