Good day and welcome to our Leisure Learning information session. Joining me is our leisure learning director, Julie Still Rolin, to give us an overview of the program, more information about classes and membership details, and your next step to getting involved with the community of lifelong learners. Hi, thank you, Heather. Yes. So, what is Leisure Learning? Leisure learning is not like traditional school. There are no tests, exams, quizzes, or essays.Classes are designed for fun, immersive learning opportunities with your peers around the local community. We offer classes, tours, and events for ages 50 and over that are enriching and expansive. How do you become a member? We do have an annual membership that is $40. And once you become a member, you are able to register for all leisure learning classes, tours, and events. And our classes range from $0 to $95. Most of our classes are $15. If you see that extra fee, that's because those classes usually include something like admission to a museum or travel like on a bus or a meal or maybe a combination of all three. A perk that you get is that you do actually get a free UWF parking pass for when you come on campus for classes as well as discounts at the UWF Center for Fine and Performing Arts. Every semester we print a course catalog. These are available for fall, spring, and summer. They are released one week before registration opens so that you can explore, plan, and figure out which classes you want to take. Our classes, tours, and events fall into a variety of categories including arts and literature. In this category, we have local author spotlights, local artists, and we visit art galleries and museums. In business, ̃nance, and law, we have local attorneys, financial advisors, and other experts that offer classes on a variety of topics. In culture, travel, and tours, we have a lot of behind-the-scene tours at different locations around the community. We also have cultural experiences, trips, and excursions. In food and drink, we do lunch and learns, cooking demonstrations, behind the scenes, beverage tours, and tastings at places like wineries, breweries, coffee shops, and soda factories. With fun with leisure learning, this is a new category introduced in 2025, and it includes day trips and other social events and experiences. In health and wellness, we do activities. We have sports like bocci ball and pickle ball. And we also visit health facilities and wellness centers. In history and current affairs, we have presentations and lectures by historians and UWF professors. In outside the box, we have unusual topics and experiences that are just that, outside the box. And in science, environment, and technology, we have discussions with sub subject matter experts, plus lab and facility tours. So many people have asked these questions. How do I request a catalog? You don't have to be a member to request a catalog. You can just do it by visiting our website at wwf.edu/leisurelearning. You can also call our office at 850-473-7468. That information will be on the last slide, so look out for that. Another question is how do I get involved? So beyond becoming a member, you can also teach a class if you have a hobby or special interest or expertise in a subject or you can also suggest a class. If you have a class idea or a recommendation, we always welcome those. So you can share those with us. If you're interested in getting involved with Leisure Learning, you can email us at leisurearning@uwf.edu and we will be happy to share additional information with you on how to do that. One of the most important questions though is how do I register? There are four different ways to register. You can do it online. You can mail in the registration form found in your catalog along with your check payment or you can call um the office phone and we will get you registered during business hours. Or you can also schedule an office appointment. You need further help or further information. Every semester we offer a class called leisure learning overview help and updates. In this class we talk about how to register and we actually do an online registration demonstration and sometimes people bring their laptop so that we can do live help and troubleshooting. Also very valuable in this class I talk about parking and navigating campus and I give you tips and tricks on how to do this. Well, awesome. Thank you so much Julie for all the great information. We hope that you learned more about leisure learning today. If you have any additional questions, to request a catalog or to sign up for membership and classes, visit us online or reach out to our team by email at leisurelearning@wf.edu or by phone at 8504737468. To learn more about anything we talked about today, visit us online at uwf.edu/leaserarning. Thank you all for listening. We can't wait to see you in class soon.
