University of West Florida is at the forefront of research in Biology. I’ve actually had the opportunity to work on bacterial community changes due to the oil spill that happened in 2010 that greatly affected our community here. I have those opportunities because the University of West Florida is conveniently located really close to the coast, so we have natural resources that we are able to sample from. The faculty here at UWF is really good at working as a community and helping you even if it’s… your research isn’t specifically related to theirs. They will be able to teach you skills that are, again, required to be at the forefront of research in Biology. 

The University of West Florida library is a great place to get some thesis writing done, and they have study carrels that are available to graduate students. That way you have a quiet place to work. 

Now, being here at the university I’ve had opportunities for funding. I’ve presented my research at national conferences due to the funding that was available to me through the graduate school here, at UWF.
