So throughout undergrad I was very involved on campus, a member of a sorority, student conduct, student ambassadors, orientation, things like that. And I didn’t realize that I could actually make a career out of being involved in all of those activities. I knew someone who recently graduated from my undergrad that was at UWF, and he kind of talked to me about the Student Affairs program. 

Coming to graduate school, before I even decided to apply, I said the only school I would attend is a school that offered me a graduate assistantship, because I thought that is a great opportunity to work on campus and to go to school, so you can actually start as a pre-professional pre-practitioner. 

So I’m a graduate assistant through the Office of Student Involvement working with fraternities and sororities. And most of the practitioners in the field are also my professors, or they work with me closely with my graduate assistantship. 

And it’s an awesome opportunity because I get to work with different people that come from diverse backgrounds, that can offer different strengths academically. 

So I was able to continue my love of community engagement on the graduate level. 

So when I graduate, I would love to work at a college or university where I can work in student programming, if that includes fraternities and sororities, or student conduct, or academic services – whatever route I choose or whatever department I decide to go in in higher ed.
