0:26 My name is John Markowitz and I'm an
0:29 instructor and head of painting and you
0:31 know what UWF’s Department of Art and
0:33 Design. We are thrilled you have chosen
0:35 to major in art and design and look
0:38 forward to having you join us in the
0:39 next academic year. The programs in the
0:42 Department of Art and Design provide
0:44 students with the skills needed for
0:46 diverse careers, transforming lives
0:48 through the arts both regionally and
0:50 nationally. 
0:51 Whether it's studio art, graphic design
0:54 art history, arts administration, or
0:57 Museum and gallery studies, our students
0:59 become proficient makers, thinkers, and
1:02 scholars. As an art and design major
1:04 you'll learn how to be a creative,
1:06 critical, and independent thinker, and to
1:08 be visually fluent in our increasingly
1:10 digital and online world. Our faculty
1:15 specializes in a wide array of research
1:18 areas which include digital art,
1:19 printmaking, conceptual and soundscape
1:22 installations, graphic design, oil
1:25 painting, and photography. Specialties
1:29 allow us to offer a Bachelor of Arts
1:31 major with specializations in art
1:33 history with a concentration available
1:35 in Museum Studies and a BA in studio art.
1:37 We also offer a Bachelor of Fine Arts or
1:40 BFA with specializations in the studio
1:42 arts, graphic design with concentrations
1:45 in print and web media and digital art
1:48 including 3D design. Our students gain
1:54 skills that prepare them for career
1:56 opportunities such as designer, curator,
1:58 and graphic artist.
2:03 We also routinely send our students to
2:06 some of the best graduate fine arts
2:08 programs in the country. Our department
2:10 is equipped with resources such as a 3D
2:12 lab, digital media labs as well as
2:15 dedicated studios for the many sub
2:17 disciplines. All of this coupled with a
2:19 dedicated and diverse faculty will give
2:21 students the personalized attention and
2:24 tools they need for success. Furthermore
2:26 students have access to our partners, the
2:28 Pensacola Museum of Art, and the
2:30 Pensacola Historic Trust, and the UWF Art
2:33 Gallery that support and complement the
2:35 work they do in the classroom while
2:37 providing hands-on experience to prepare
2:38 students or professional fieldwork. Thank
