0:04 I'm Tabitha - I'm the supply chain 0:08 logistics Association president and I'm 0:10 also a veteran I am here because I got a 0:15 medical retirement and I didn't know 0:18 what I wanted to do with life 0:20 and one thing I know it especially what 0:22 my life is I've had to start over again 0:25 so it was like okay this is my third and 0:28 start what am I gonna do now 0:30 and I chose to go back to school I've 0:32 started in the marketing program and 0:35 then I got here and I was like I don't 0:37 really think marketing is what I'm going 0:39 to do and I met dr. Austin and they 0:42 started talking to me about the supply 0:43 chain logistics program between him and 0:47 Miss Rogers I felt that that was a 0:49 perfect fit for what I wanted to do it 0:50 so that's how I ended up in the supply 0:52 chain logistics program 0:55 well when I first joined se la I think I 0:57 joined it for the same reason a lot of 0:59 people do is to have something different 1:01 on your resume but after our first tour 1:04 at the port of : it just really changed 1:07 my world I was like I'm really getting 1:09 ready to go out and see these different 1:13 industries that I'm learning about in 1:15 class and then after that we went a 1:17 couple of more tours and then I started 1:19 meeting people and it was like okay well 1:21 if you're looking for an internship or 1:23 you know we're looking for UWL students 1:25 for jobs and then I realized that this 1:28 association and I just teaching me or 1:30 showed me what I'm learning in class 1:32 there's all the way linking me to the 1:34 industry that I want to be in and now I 1:36 have contacts and we do networking event 1:40 in the spring where we have actually 1:43 companies come in and talk to just our 1:45 students our supply chain students our 1:48 SCL a students and we have had so many 1:51 people that have gotten internships and 1:53 jobs out of that and it's just been 1:56 great it was the best mistake I would 1:59 say it was a mistake as I didn't join 2:02 earlier but just joining thinking I'm 2:05 just gonna have it on my resume you know 2:08 that is there being a mistake was the 2:10 best mistake I could have made 2:14 Martin transportation came to our spring 2:17 career fair and I interviewed Lee Martin 2:20 transport then but I wasn't graduating 2:22 in the spring so it was like well we'll 2:25 look you up and you know look us up in 2:26 the fall when it's close to graduation 2:28 where one of our alumni Dakota Ledbetter 2:32 she actually landed the job then and 2:35 they were so impressed with her that 2:38 they heard of it came back in the fall 2:40 and our interview with them again and 2:43 they flew me down to Tampa 2:45 two weeks ago today actually for an 2:47 interview for a final interview I should 2:50 say and the rest is history 2:55 definitely join supply chain logistics 2:58 Association we do so much 3:03 you will meet so many people so many 3:06 contacts to put in your rolodex so 3:09 there's no way you should leave here 3:12 without a job 3:13 but there's no way you should not get an 3:16 internship especially within the 3:18 Association because we go on tours we 3:21 meet what people we have alumni come 3:22 back and speak if you do nothing else 3:27 our suggestion joint SD LA but I have a 3:31 model a that says if you don't join se 3:33 la join something do something because 3:36 all of these associations here for the 3:39 College of Business are here to help you 3:41 beyond UWF so that's my suggestion for 3:46 supply chains to live in any student 3:48 period
