0:06 my name is Robin Duncan Jones I 0:08 graduated from UWF May 2015 0:12 I did get my two-year degree right out 0:15 of college for liberal arts and then I 0:17 went into retail management and I 0:20 quickly realized that's not where I 0:22 wanted to be yeah I took dr. Keller 0:25 supply chain management class one of my 0:27 first classes I'm at UW F and I 0:30 instantly fell in love with it dr. 0:33 Keller's passion for supply chain is 0:35 infectious the education really does 0:37 have the big influence on on what I do 0:39 day to day there isn't anything that I 0:42 haven't learned here that I don't use 0:45 throughout the day which is surprising 0:48 because a lot of the times you hear 0:49 people I think oh you know it's not it's 0:52 not like how it is in real life real 0:53 life is completely different well not 0:55 really with what they teach us here I 0:57 use a lot of what I learned at UW I 1:00 think my current job a lot of it and so 1:02 data dumping is not really wasn't really 1:05 an option for for what I do 1:09 I wanted to be more involved because I 1:10 know that that's kind of the leg up on 1:13 resumes is how involved you were in the 1:16 university and what experiences you have 1:18 and I saw about the F CLA went to these 1:22 businesses went to these places that you 1:25 can actually see a real life industry 1:27 and speak to real life people and that 1:30 are within the field to me it was an 1:32 experience that you don't get with any 1:33 other just by reading in a book or or 1:36 just by looking on the Internet 1:39 always have a five-year goal and that's 1:42 one thing that's stuck with me ever ever 1:44 since I took the class it's always have 1:46 a five-year goals in the event that I am 1:48 NOT a novel EPS in five years ask 1:50 management cuz that's the current goal 1:52 now then I would like to stay within the 1:54 aerospace industry and become a manager 1:56 within the aerospace industry either in 1:58 purchasing or splushee management 2:03 - I like being able to work with a group 2:04 of people I like being able to make sure 2:07 that a project is seeing through all the 2:09 way through and like interacting and 2:12 just making sure that things are done 2:14 and so that's kind of where the 2:16 leadership roles is driven and why I 2:18 want to stay in management from here on 2:20 out 2:22 I'm being president you know if there 2:24 are some snacks when it comes to members 2:27 because I mean they're they're paying to 2:29 be in your program and in your club and 2:32 if they're not happy then what are you 2:35 gonna do you have paid members aren't 2:36 happy so one of the things that I like 2:38 to do personally is just kind of talk 2:40 with everyone and talk to the 2:41 individuals and see you know really what 2:44 what the root of the issue is like are 2:46 what are you not unhappy about what 2:47 would you like to see and then trying to 2:49 incorporate that into into something 2:52 that where it works for everybody and 2:55 everybody is is happy 2:56 for example we we weren't doing as many 2:59 like field trips to other vendors as we 3:02 were in previous years and so what we 3:06 did was created more positions within 3:08 the club for you didn't have one person 3:11 Joe that was completely solely dedicated 3:12 to setting up the trips and everything 3:15 and so that worked out to where we were 3:17 able to have one dedicated person 3:19 responsible for booking all the trips 3:21 and doing all that stuff because that 3:22 position previously wasn't there before 3:27 I think so I think being able to 3:29 delegate is a hard skill to come by i 3:32 thing that I definitely learned that 3:33 here you know yep and that specific 3:36 instance as well is being leadership 3:39 driven it's hard to not want to do 3:42 everything yourself but learning that 3:44 have a little bit of humility that you 3:45 can get help and that you can tell they 3:47 get it out and not take all the stress 3:48 on yourself as something I definitely 3:50 learned here 3:52 that's absolutely true I mean especially 3:54 when it comes to the place that I work 3:56 with now all my cohorts and people that 3:58 I work with are extremely smart they're 4:00 very very smart and they're very 4:02 knowledgeable of what they do and that's 4:04 key to our success is having a good team 4:07 and a good group of people who are smart 4:09 and that means because people hire them 4:12 that you're looking
