Find A Book
Read the steps below or watch the video tutorials for help with finding books.
Steps to Finding a Book:
- Using our OneSearch tool, select "books" using the drop-down menu and search for a particular title, author, or keyword. You can also search the Library Catalog directly from our home page. Use an "anywhere in the record" search as a keyword search for your topic, or use the other searches (e.g., " in the title" and " as author/creator") if you are looking for something specific.
- Look through the results list to find a book that is relevant. Tip: You may have to narrow your search in the left-hand column by "Subject:Topic" or adjust your keyword search to get the best results.
- When you find a book you want, pay attention to its location, call number, and status. We have multiple libraries and locations. If the book says "available," go to the location of the book (e.g. UWF Library Book Stacks) and search for its call number. If you need help reading call numbers, consult the How to Read Call Numbers tutorial.
Use the Catalog's Advanced Search to search multiple fields at once (e.g., author/creator, subject, etc) or to limit your search by material type, language, or publication date.
Finding books at other State University Libraries:
You can use the Union Catalog to search for materials available at all the state libraries. When you find something you want you can get it transferred to UWF via the UBorrow system.
