Instructional Design and Technology, M.Ed.
Instructional Technology professionals provide critical support for national and international education, training, and performance initiatives in the 21st century. The M.Ed. in Instructional Technology from UWF prepares education, military, healthcare, and business and industry professionals to meet the challenges of complex problems from the perspective of education, training, and performance improvement.
Instructional Technology (IT) is the systematic application of behavioral science and learning, communication, and instructional theories to resolve learning and/or performance-based problems. It encompasses the identification and analysis of problems and the design, development, implementation, evaluation, and management of the technology-based processes and resources that make up the solution.

Instructional Design and Technology
Offered entirely online, the Instructional Design and Technology specialization prepares education, military, and business and industry professionals to meet the challenges of complex problems from the perspective of education and training. Students in the program select courses in a concentration area in addition to the program core requirements. Concentration areas include Human Performance Technology and Distance Learning.
The Technology Leadership Specialization provides students with a strong foundation in technology and leadership while incorporating a highly flexible elective component, allowing students to select individual courses and/or certificate programs aligned with their particular areas of interest and professional goals. Students should work closely with their advisers when developing their program plans.
Technology has transformed the way the world conducts education and training. Across the globe, technology is increasingly being used to provide professional development, facilitate assessment, and achieve administrative efficiency. According to Reiser & Dempsey (2006), instructional technologists are today's problem solvers. They analyze performance problems and design solutions to those problems. Sometimes the solution is instructional; at other times a non-instructional solution is called for.
Knowing how to analyze a situation and design the best and most efficient solution makes instructional technologists a valuable commodity. Following are some of the career opportunities available for an IT graduate:

In addition to the University graduate admission requirements, the department bases decisions for regular admission on a holistic review of credentials in which the criteria listed below are used to assess the potential success of each applicant.
- Submission of Graduate Application and Processing Fee
- Submission of official transcripts

- Submission of one of the following graduate admission tests*:
- Graduate Record Examination (GRE)
- Miller Analogies Test (MAT)
- Undergraduate cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
- Submission of letter of intent that meets the following minimum requirements:
- Describes the applicant's academic and professional experiences
- Describes the applicant's career goals and reasons for pursuing the degree
- Minimum of two pages in length
- Free of spelling and grammatical errors
- Academic preparation
* The graduate admission test may be waived for the following:
- Applicants must have an undergraduate GPA of 3.25 or higher from an accredited institution.
