Welcome from the Interim Dean

Welcome to the UWF College of Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities! Take some time to explore our website and learn about the many possibilities the college offers across nine disciplines. Our programs in the social sciences, humanities, and fine and performing arts will prepare you for whatever career and direction you choose to follow. Employers value a team player who can think critically, communicate effectively, solve complicated problems, and creatively address any issue. CASSH has the educational experiences to enable you to become that person.

Undergraduate and graduate programs offer high-impact learning opportunities that will provide you with targeted career practice, such as the following:

  • student employment and internships,
  • possibilities for publication,
  • research collaboration with faculty and staff,
  • international travel and study abroad,
  • writing and earning grants,
  • performance and public speaking experience,
  • portfolio development,
  • mentoring, and
  • other practical applications of your chosen field.

Certificate programs offer professional development and résumé building in avenues as diverse as historic preservation, executive communication, and social media for public relations and advertising.

CASSH is proud to show off the accomplishments of our students, faculty, and staff. Explore Historic Pensacola Village and the Pensacola Museum of Art to see how history, art, anthropology, and communication students gain experience with administration, exhibit design and installation, and archival research. Visit The Art Gallery at UWF to see evolving exhibitions that feature student as well as regional, national, and international artists. UWF’s internationally renowned archaeology program boasts the Archaeology Institute, which includes exhibits on Northwest Florida’s heritage that feature artifacts recovered as part of annual student field schools.  As part of CASSH, students can participate in a variety of clubs such as the Speech and Debate team and the Model U.N., where students can compete with other schools or travel to conferences.  Each department has its own club and honor’s society that allows you to meet other majors and faculty mentors outside of classes.

As a graduate of any of CASSH’s programs, your future is bright and boundless. Our faculty and staff are committed to providing our students an exhilarating, diverse, and multi-layered experience in education, community engagement, public service, and the college experience. In CASSH, you can prepare to do anything!
