Donation Box Program

The University Commons offers dedicated spaces for different organizations and groups to set up a collection drive. Donation/collection boxes are limited to the University Commons east entrance corridor (next to the UWF bookstore), the West entrance (near the Galley) and the Main entrance (near the Nautilus Market).

About the Program

Display of donation/collection boxes are limited to the University Commons east entrance corridor (next to the UWF bookstore) and West entrance (near the Galley) and the Main entrance (near the Nautilus Market). The Assistant Director of Operations and Facilities will advise as to the exact location of the box.

All donation box requests must be approved by the University Commons Assistant Director of Operations and Facilities.

Up to Three departments/organizations may have a donation/collection box in the University Commons per date.

Reservations are made on a first come, first served basis.

Groups may display donation/collection boxes for a maximum of three weeks with Sunday through Saturday defining a week.

An organization must request donation/collection box space at least 7 days in advance of the proposed display date.

A 40 gallon 18"Lx18"Wx30"H box will be supplied by the Commons at a cost of $5.00. Other boxes are not permitted.

Organizations may take the box at the end of the three week donation period.

Organizations are responsible for providing an 8.5"x11" sign that includes the following information:

  • Types of specific items they are collecting (example: canned goods, clothing, books, etc.).
  • Student organization, class name, or campus department title.
  • Recipient organization name (example: Food Pantry, Salvation Army, etc.).
  • Dates for item collection.
  • Contact information for student organization or campus department representative

The organization will monitor the box daily and remove items as necessary so the box does not overflow, become unsightly, and/or obstruct one’s movement through the University Commons. If the box does begin overflowing, staff will remove the box.

The University Commons and Event Services is not responsible for lost, missing, damaged, or stolen items.

Donations collected for philanthropies and charities may only be accepted by RSOs with prior approval of University Commons Assistant Director of Operations and Facilities.

If any groups fail to adhere to any of these guidelines, the University Union and/or Center for Leadership and Service reserves the right to stop your donation reservation.

Any questions or concerns should be submitted to mmckinney@uwf.edu.
