Kansai Gaidai University offers a flagship Asian Studies Program and several foreign language and communications schools of interest to international studies, global communication, and ESOL education related majors.

Located in the Osaka Prefecture, Japan, Hirakata City is six hours from Tokyo. Home to beautiful Yamadaike Park and gardens, Hirakata City and Kansai Gaidai University, founded in 1945, offers an array of Japanese language and cultural programming to create a living-learning community for global studies.

Overview

Kansai Gaidai University, a UWF exchange partner, has a renowned Asian Studies Program. Established in 1972, the program provides international students Japanese language and Asian studies programming. Several extracurricular activities are available for students including Japanese martial arts, sports, service clubs, and international student groups.

Academics

The Asian Studies Program at Kansai Gaidai University is conducted in English, and students with no prior Japanese language training may pursue study of Japanese language and Asian culture. Several schools focusing on language, communications, and professional development are also available and provide a unique environment in which to immerse in language and culture.

Living Experience

Kansai Gaidai University offers student housing in residence halls, off-campus housing, and home-stays where students live with a Japanese family, and join their host family at meal and other activities. This immersive experience can significantly enrich your study abroad experience and create lasting relationships.

Budget

Costs of participation may be less than you think! Compared to UWF estimated direct cost of $7,970 for tuition, housing and meals per semester, or $15,940 for an academic year for in-state residents, the cost of a semester of study at Kansai Gaidai University is between $5,300 and $6,300, and $10,600 to $12,600 for an academic year. Costs vary by housing type and single or shared living spaces and meal selection. Tuition is paid on a semester basis to UWF and is charged at the same rate (in-state or out-of-state) that you pay when studying in Pensacola. This cost estimate does not include cost of international travel to include flight, visa, passport, and insurance.
