We’re glad you chose Student Health Services at the University of West Florida. This page provides important information to help guide your care after your visit. If questions come up, we’re here to support you.
Your Care Instructions
Please carefully follow the instructions provided by your healthcare provider, which may include:
- Taking medications as prescribed
- Resting and staying hydrated
- Following any diet or activity recommendations
- Monitoring your symptoms for changes

If you are unsure about any instructions, please contact us before making changes to your care plan.
Medications
If you were prescribed medication:
- Take it exactly as directed
- Complete the full course unless told otherwise
- Be aware of possible side effects
- Contact Student Health Services if you experience any concerns or reactions
If you need to refill a medication:
- Check the medication label for the prescription number and refill information.
- Contact the pharmacy using the app, website, phone number, or in person.
- Provide the prescription number and confirm your personal information.
- Ask whether refills are still available on the prescription.
- If no refills remain, contact your healthcare provider for a new prescription authorization.
- Confirm when the medication will be ready for pickup or delivery.
- Pick up the medication.
- Store the medication safely and take it exactly as prescribed.
*You may use the pharmacy you used previously. If you would like to use a different pharmacy, have the pharmacy you would like to use call the previous pharmacy to transfer the prescription, or take the medication bottle to the pharmacy you would like and have them fill it.
When to Follow Up
Please schedule a follow-up visit if:
- Your symptoms do not improve as expected
- Your condition worsens
- New symptoms develop
- Your provider recommended a recheck
For emergencies, call 911.
Academic Support & Class Attendance
If your health condition impacts your ability to attend class:
- Use the documentation provided at your visit
- Students are provided a hard copy; however, you can take a photo of your provided documentation and email it to your instructor.
- Communicate with your instructors as soon as possible
- Follow any return-to-class guidance given by your provider
- Student Health Services can help guide you, but academic accommodations are coordinated through your professors and campus policies.

Call 911 off campus for an ambulance for assistance during a life-threatening emergency. For an ambulance while on campus, call UWF Police at 850.474.2415. The police can stay with you and direct the ambulance to your location.
