Dr. Michele Manassah

Michele Manassah joined UWF in August 2018 and currently serves as the Executive Director for Counseling and Health Services. In this role, she is responsible for the comprehensive leadership, vision and direction, effective management, supervision and day-to-day administration of the Counseling Center and Student Health Services.

Prior to coming to UWF, Manassah served for eight years as the Director of Counseling Services at Lewis University in Romeoville, Illinois, directing the clinical and administrative operations of student counseling services and prevention education, as well as facilitating the long-range planning efforts for the department, contributing to the overall character, content and quality of services.

Prior to her work at Lewis University, Michele served for 20 years in public health, working in Ohio and Illinois in rural, suburban and urban settings providing mental health services and clinical and administrative oversight to several programs. She has also served as an instructor, teaching master’s level counseling courses at the University of the Cumberlands in Williamsburg, Kentucky. Michele has chaired and served on many committees in each of her previous roles, including Alcohol and Other Drugs Task Force, Campus Violence Prevention, Emergency Planning and Threat Assessment and a campus/community behavioral health task force. Michele is actively involved in her professional community and holds memberships in the American College Counseling Association, American Counseling Association, Association for University and College Counseling Center Directors, American College Health Association, School and College Organization for Prevention Educators, the Illinois Mental Health Counselors Association and Chi Sigma Iota. She has also served on the board of directors at two not-for-profit counseling agencies.  

Michele earned a bachelor’s degree in child and family services and a master’s degree in counseling from Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, Ohio. She earned a Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision at the University of the Cumberlands in Williamsburg, Kentucky.
