Families, take advantage of this opportunity to visit your student and enjoy everything the UWF community has to offer. The weekend offers campus and historic tours, fun activities, great food, and football. Please register below so that we can plan for your arrival.

Detailed Schedule for the Weekend

Wristbands will be required for entry at all events. The attire for all activities is casual/summer attire.

 Friday, September 22, 2023 
10a.m. -4p.m.
Family Check-In: Great Hall. Arriving parents/families can check-In and pick up their weekend schedule, name tags, and admittance wristbands/tickets. Beverages and snacks will be available. 
11a.m. -4p.m.
Visit Historic Pensacola: Downtown Pensacola. Plan to spend some time exploring and learning about historic Pensacola, America’s first multi-year settlement. Leisurely visit the museums, participate in the self-tours of historic homes, and interact with period-dressed living history interpreters. 
 
Golf: Scenic Hills Country Club (8891 Burning Tree Rd, Pensacola, FL 32514). Enjoy a round of golf with your student and family members at the Scenic Hills Country Club adjacent to the UWF campus. This award-winning 18-hole championship golf course is recognized as “The Top Course to Play in Pensacola.”
11a.m. -2p.m.
Caricatures by Tim: Great Hall. Tim Banfell, a local caricature artist, will be available in the Commons Great Hall to sketch caricatures of Family Weekend attendees. 

Photo Booth: Outside Great Hall/Great Hall. A photo booth will be available with a Family Weekend theme in which Family Weekend attendees can have their photos taken. This will be available just outside the Great Hall or in the Great Hall if the weather does not permit it. 

Campus Open House: Various Campus Locations. Various colleges and departments will have the opportunity to welcome parents/families into their respective areas. This will be a great time to learn about many of the academic and support services available on campus. A map of participating areas will be provided along with transportation assistance. 

Campus Services Fair: Great Hall. Various departments that provide services on campus will provide information pertaining to the services and support they provide students.

1-2 p.m. Dean of Students Interest Presentation: Commons Auditorium. A staff member from the Dean of Students office will present to parents and families and answer questions on the support services their office provides to students. 
2-3 p.m.
International Affairs on Study Abroad Interest Session: Commons Auditorium. Learn what’s available with this program and how to get your student prepared.
3:15-4:15 p.m.
Student Engagement Open Forum Panel: Commons Auditorium. The Student Engagement Department will have a panel comprised of representatives able to address questions regarding student life, activities, and engagement opportunities available to students. 
6-8 p.m. Dessert Reception: Commons Auditorium. Parents and families are invited to a dessert reception hosted by UWF leadership representing various departments on the UWF campus. This event will provide attendees an opportunity to meet and mingle with other parents and University administrators. 

 

Saturday, September 23, 2023
9a.m. – 4p.m.

10a.m. - 4p.m.

Noon-
2 p.m.
Parents Lunch: Commons Auditorium. This is a special lunch for parents only. Meet, mingle, and enjoy a great lunch with other parents. There will also be a special fun project for parents to complete. 
Students Lunch: Commons Nautilus Room. This is a special lunch for students
whose parents are attending Family Weekend. Stop in and enjoy lunch with your fellow students and UWF staff. There may also be a special fun project as well! 
4-6 p.m.
Argo Football Tailgate Social: University Park. The spirit of Argo Football will be celebrated as parents and families enjoy food, beverages, games, and great conversation prior to the UWF vs. West Georgia football game. 
6-9 p.m.
UWF Football Game: Each paid registration includes a ticket to the UWF football game. Cheer on the Argos as they take on their Gulf South Conference rivals, the University of West Georgia. Student football tickets are available for free at the
Commons Building Service Desk.
