Outdoor Adventure Clinics

UWF Recreation's Outdoor Adventure Center offers specialized adventure clinics throughout the year addressing a specific topic relating to outdoor adventure travel and fun. Clinics are free for students, faculty and staff. Present your active Nautilus Card at your clinics to participate.


Top Rope Climbing Clinic

Each clinic is a one-hour course designed to teach the necessary safety skills for top rope climbing. Upon successful completion of this clinic, participants will be able to properly put on a harness, tie into the rope, and belay a partner. 

Participants should bring a partner if possible, although partners can be found in the course.

Lead Climbing Clinic

This clinic is for climbers who have completed the top rope belay certification and are looking for a little more climbing knowledge. Each clinic is a roughly 1.5-hour course designed to teach the safety skills needed for lead climbing. Upon successful completion of the clinic and certification process, climbers will be allowed to climb on mock lead in the Climbing Center.

Participants should bring a partner if possible, although partners can be found in the course.

Bike Maintenance Clinic in partnership with Truly Spokin 

Participants will learn how to fix a flat tire, how to adjust the handlebar angle and seat height, as well as information ranging from tune-ups to overhauls. 

Location: Bike Shop and Outdoor Center, Building 209, Room 3

Mountain Bike Skills Clinics

Participants will learn information ranging from basic proper body positioning and braking to advanced corner and climbing. The clinic consists of a 30 minutes instruction/skill review followed by a trail ride and skills practice. Riders of all skill levels are welcome.
