Dr. Amanda Peterson, Psy.D., CGP

I’m so happy to have joined the wonderful team at CAPS. I have a passion in working with diverse college populations and feel honored to have to opportunity to work at UWF. My training and experience include earning a masters degree in psychology and a Psy.D. in counseling psychology from Chatham University. I am a licensed psychologist in the State of Florida and have worked in several different college counseling centers throughout my training and career.

My approach to therapy is integrative with a focus on interpersonal process, multiculturalism, humanistic techniques, and a feminist approach. I am also a Certified Group Psychotherapist and have a passion for group counseling work. While I consider myself to be a generalist, some of my professional interests include women’s issues, eating and body image concerns, identity concerns, and LGBTQIA+ issues. With each person that I meet, I work collaboratively to determine treatment goals and determine the most fitting treatment plan and approach.
