Faculty & Staff Guide to the Center for Academic Success

To learn more about our offices/services please view our videos or the print guides designed for faculty and staff at UWF

The Center for Academic Success provides collaborative student support services designed to empower students to become independent and active learners who thrive at UWF and achieve their academic goals.

Tutoring and Learning Resources:

Provides free academic support services to all enrolled students
through subject-based tutoring, study skills assistance, general
paper reading, and academic coaching. Staff and tutors strive to
develop relationships with faculty to address specific needs of
courses and improve tutoring outcomes. Faculty may request a class
visit at any time during the semester to inform students about the
resources available to them. Tutoring and Learning Resources also
works with faculty to refer students and verify recommendations for
potential tutors.

Student Accessibility Resources:

Coordinates academic accommodations for students with
documented disabilities. Consultations are available to faculty to
help make coursework and supplemental materials accessible (i.e.
accessible PDFs, closed captioning support for videos and audio
used in classrooms, etc.). Trainings, demonstrations, and workshops
regarding disability and assistive technology are available for
both faculty and students. Contact us with questions regarding
accommodations, assistive technology, or for consultation about a
specific student or disability.

Testing Services:

Provides exam proctoring services free of charge for make-up exams
and exams that require proctoring for online or face-to-face UWF
courses. UWF Testing Services can also provide alternative testing
administration for on-campus students with special circumstances. If
there is a need for alternative testing administration, please contact
Testing Services to discuss how we may be able to accommodate
faculty and student needs. We also offer a library of standardized
exams for graduate and professional education and professional
certifications that may be relevant to your discipline.

First Year Advising:

Provides one on one in-depth support to students specifically in the
first year at UWF. Faculty who may be concerned about a student’s
progress can submit an alert through the Early Warning Reporting
processes or via Navigate (formerly SSC Campus) and an academic advisor will reach
out to the student to provide resources and support. When add/
drop and withdrawal deadlines are approaching, you may send
your students to their academic advisor to discuss the impacts
of withdrawing from a course. Advisors can also provide direct
assistance to faculty to clarify degree requirements or policies.
