Career Development & Community Engagement (CDCE) is excited to assist faculty and staff in providing career development opportunities for our students and alumni. Below are many of the resources we offer to our UWF community. Faculty & Advisor Guide to Virtual Career Resources

This Virtual Guide is designed to assist faculty and advisors in facilitating career-related conversations and contains virtual career development resources available to assist your students.

Big Interview

Big Interview is an online system that combines training and practice to help students improve their interview technique and build confidence. Resources you can utilize in your courses include:

  • Mock interview practice and recording tool
  • Written and video curriculum covering the entire job search and interview process
  • Mechanism for sharing videos externally/internally for feedback
  • Admin dashboard with reporting
  • Ability to customize/record questions and question sets
  • Assignments and Customer Sets (create and assign custom questions/sets)
  • And even a resume tool

Bring CDCE to Your Class

If you need to be away from class, don't cancel class; CDCE can cover for you! To see a list of topics we can cover, click the button to request a presentation. In order to ensure availability, please submit your request at least two weeks in advance of the presentation date.

Class Projects & Grading Assignments

We strongly encourage collaboration between your department and our office, especially when it comes to preparing our students for life beyond college. Many faculty collaborate with our office to incorporate mock interviews and job search document reviews (i.e., résumé, cover letter, portfolios, etc.) into their course requirements. We can also work with you to incorporate other services into your curriculum. To ensure maximum efficiency and the highest standard of work it is recommended that you correspond directly with your college liaison early in the semester.

Request a Handshake Account

Handshake is the university-wide job posting system for students and alumni to search for jobs, internships, co-ops, and more. Through Handshake, they able to request appointments with our career coaches and register for our events and professional development opportunities, while accessing thousands of jobs and internships. CDCE will create a student account for any UWF faculty or staff member looking to assist their students and alumni in searching and applying for positions on Handshake. Please fill out the form below to request an account.

*Please note, if you graduated from UWF, you may already have access to Handshake through your MyUWF account. Login to MyUWF, search for Handshake, login, and you will be able to build your profile. Once your profile is completed, you can access co-op, internship, job opportunities, career events, and more!

Argo2Pro: Career Readiness Skill Development

Students consider faculty to be their number one source for career readiness advice. We are here to help you help your students. One resource is the Argo2Pro: Career Readiness Program which highlights eight skills identified as essential to professional success, regardless of industry. There are three levels of development for each skill: Explore, Experience, & Excel. Below are a few things you can do to help guide your students from Exploration to Excellence.

Here are a few ways you can support your students in their exploration process:

  • Invite CDCE to speak to your class regarding major exploration.
  • Encourage students to join a student organization or pursue involvement opportunities.
  • Discuss career goals with your students.
  • Suggest a Major and Career Exploration appointment for students struggling with declaring a major.
  • Encourage students to volunteer.
  • Invite CDCE to speak to your class on resumes and/or job shadowing.

Here are a few ways you can support your students in the experience stage:

  • Consider serving as a source for an informational interview for some of your students.
  • Encourage students to pursue leadership positions in student organizations.
  • Invite CDCE to speak to your class on interviewing or internships.
  • Consider serving as a reference for some of your students.
  • Encourage students to pursue internships and other High-Impact experiences.

Here are a few ways you can support your students in the excel stage:

  • Encourage students to attend career events.
  • Invite CDCE to speak to your class on job search strategies.
  • Educate your students on graduate school opportunities and benefits.
  • Encourage students to pursue internships and other High-Impact experiences.
  • Consider requiring your students to complete a Mock Interview or Resume Review with a Career Coach.
