LaTonya Wesley currently serves as the executive director of Student Retention Initiatives. She has 13 years of higher education experience and previously served as the Assistant Director of Financial Aid, Associate Director of 21st Century Scholars, and Director of Trio Student Support Services. As the Executive Director of Student Retention Initiatives, LaTonya has oversight of Men’s Empowerment Network (MEN), Women’s Professionally Empowered and Ready for Life Network (PEARL), Trio Student Support Services, UWF Community Scholars, and First Year Experience which includes Dive Deep Initiatives, Foundations for Success courses, Anchor Down Mentoring and Living Learning Programs.
LaTonya is a member of the President’s Council for Diversity and Inclusion, Florida Trio, and Southeastern Association of Educational Opportunity Program Personnel. She holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida in sociology and a master’s degree in higher education from the University of West Florida. She is a native of Pensacola, Florida, and an active participant in local community organizations.
