Ms. Karen Rentz serves as the executive director of Equity and Diversity at the University of West Florida. She oversees the University’s Diversity Programs office, Equal Opportunity office, and the Title IX office. Ms. Rentz also serves as the University’s Title IX Administrator (Title IX Coordinator) where she reports directly to the chief diversity officer and vice president, Dr. Kim LeDuff.
Ms. Rentz has 20 years of private industry human resources experience, with 10 of those years at the C-suite level. She has a bachelor’s degree in communications and master’s degree in human resources management. She maintains nationally recognized human resource certifications, the PHR and SHRM-CP. She has multiple diversity and inclusion certificates and completes annual training to maintain her Title IX Administrator and a Title IX Investigator certifications. Ms. Rentz also holds the Prosci Change Management Certification.
Ms. Rentz has been with the UWF since 2012 where she was initially hired in the human resources department to lead the talent acquisition, classifications, employee relations, EEO/AA, training and development and performance management functions. As the executive director for the Office of Equity & Diversity, Ms. Rentz has oversight of policies, procedures and programs associated with diversity and inclusion, equal opportunity, civil rights, Title IX, affirmative action and related compliance. She works closely with the University’s chief diversity officer to promote inclusive excellence on campus and in the surrounding communities.
Ms. Rentz co-chairs the President’s Council for Diversity and Inclusion, chairs the Title IX Committee, serves on the university’s Campus Care Team, the NCAA Gender Equity Committee, the Risk and Compliance Committee, and multiple campus workgroups and programs. She is also active in the Florida State University System’s equity and Title IX committees.
