Quality Matters

Quality Matters (QM) QM is a leader in quality assurance for online education and has received national recognition for its peer-based approach and continuous improvement in online education and student learning. The Quality Matters Rubric is research supported and promotes best practice-based quality standards and procedures. QM subscribers include community and technical colleges, colleges and universities, K-12 schools and systems, and textbook publishers.

QM Program Components

QM consists of three primary components:

Become a Quality Matters (QM) Peer Reviewer

If you’ve taken QM workshops for course improvement, you already know that well-conceived, well-designed, well-presented courses and programs make a difference for learners. Acting in a QM-Certified Reviewer role offers benefits for you, and helps you contribute to the quality assurance process. To become a Higher Education QM Peer Reviewer you must complete the following steps. 

Complete the Applying the QM Rubric (APPQMR) Workshop.

Learn the underlying principles behind the QM Rubric and the critical elements of the QM quality assurance process. Learn about drafting helpful recommendations as you apply the Rubric to an actual course.

Peer Reviewer Course (PRC)

The Peer Reviewer Course is designed to prepare experienced online faculty to become QM-Certified Peer Reviewers. The Peer Reviewer Course includes a review of Quality Matters, practice in critiquing and writing helpful recommendations, and a Practice Review in which the participants are asked to review Specific Review Standards in an online course using the QM Course Review Management System (CRMS)

Meet the Requirements

You must be a current QM subscriber AND you must have online teaching experience in a for-credit course within the last 18 months.

Complete the Peer Reviewer Application

After successful completion of the Peer Reviewer Course, you will be provided with the application.
