UWF cybersecurity student, Lousindy Mitton

UWF cybersecurity student awarded prestigious Foreign Affairs IT Fellowship

Lousindy Mitton, a graduate student in the University of West Florida’s Master of Science in Cybersecurity program, is the first student in the University’s history to be awarded the prestigious Foreign Affairs Information Technology Fellowship. Sponsored by the U.S. Department of State and administered by The Washington Center, this highly competitive fellowship prepares future leaders to leverage technology in advancing U.S. foreign policy objectives. Through this program, Mitton will have the opportunity to make a global impact by contributing to technological innovation and diplomacy.

UWF online programs rank among best in U.S. News and World Report

The University of West Florida ranked among the best in the nation in the 2025 U.S. News and World Report Best Online College rankings. UWF ranked 39th among more than 350 institutions for Best Online Bachelor’s Programs and 25th for Best Online Bachelor’s Programs for Veterans in the rankings released on Jan. 21. This marks an improvement from 2024 when UWF’s online bachelor’s programs ranked 45th overall and 30th for veterans, and this is UWF’s highest ranking to date in the veterans category.

UWF Notice: UWF Remains Closed Jan. 23-24 for Winter Weather

Out of an abundance of caution, all UWF locations will remain closed Thursday, January 23, and Friday, January 24. This includes all classes, events, campus activities and online courses. The Board of Trustees meeting for Thursday, January 23, at 10 a.m. will continue as scheduled and can be streamed live via Zoom (Passcode: 022020) or wuwf.org/bot. Normal University operations, classes, events and campus activities will resume on Monday, January 27, unless conditions change, in which case, University officials will notify all students, faculty and staff.
