UWF selected to join Gulf Scholars Program
The Gulf Scholars Program of The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine has selected the University of West Florida to join the program’s fourth cohort. UWF will receive $525,000 over the course of five years from the Gulf Research Program to prepare undergraduate students to address pressing environmental, health, energy and infrastructure challenges in the Gulf of Mexico region. This preparation will include courses, workshops, field experiences and a major research or creative project in partnership with a local or regional organization centered on the Gulf of Mexico region known as a Gulf Impact Project.
UWF celebrates the grand opening of the Sandy Sansing Sports Medicine Center
The University of West Florida celebrated the grand opening of the Sandy Sansing Sports Medicine Center at the Darrell Gooden Center, a $6 million state-of-the-art facility dedicated to enhancing the quality of care for UWF student-athletes. The Darrell Gooden Center expansion includes areas for student-athletes to warm up and cool down prior to and post practice, receive innovative physical therapy and restorative treatments, additional offices for athletic training and football staff and new team meeting spaces for UWF Athletics.
UWF ranks eighth in nation, first in state on ‘Best for Vets’ list
The University of West Florida came in at No. 8 on the "Best for Vets" college list released by Military Times. This marks the University’s highest ranking on the list to date. UWF was ranked among 304 schools and came in at No. 1 among all Florida institutions.
