Here is a little background on our sorority. We are local, meaning that we originated right here on the UWF campus and have been active for over 10 years, which is quite an accomplishment. We are the longest running local sorority on our campus to date! Some benefits to being local include: lower dues than that of national sororities as well as a smaller, more tight-knit sisterhood. We pride ourselves on the strong bonds we create with one another.
So what exactly is Rush? Rush is primarily a period when the sororities on campus hold events where women who might be interested in joining can meet the sisters and find out more about each sorority. Rush is a time when we can get to know you and vice versa. Rush takes the form of a series of events that each organization holds independently. These events are non-alcoholic, and are designed to provide the rushees with an inviting atmosphere to see if our organization best suits them. A typical rush schedule includes cook-outs, game night, pottery, and other exciting events! Rush is usually a week long and is held early within the semester. Our rush is open to any interested female student from the University of West Florida or Pensacola Junior College.
Here is the Rush Week schedule:
September 21 thru September 27
Monday-- This is Introduction night. You will meet all the sisters and learn about our sorority. We will have an information slideshow and this is when you will fill out your paperwork for rush? There is no fee so don't bring money. Also, we will have a few icebreakers so everyone can get to know each other better.
Tuesday-- Dinner at LaHacienda with the sisters. This is a yearly tradition. Please bring money if you plan on eating. If not, there's always free chips and salsa. Haha. We will hand out fact sheets on the sisters so each girl rushing will be able to learn more about the sisters.
Wednesday-- This night we will be bowling at DeLuna lanes! Once I get the price, I will post it. This is just a fun night of bowling.
Thursday-- This is our philanthropy night. You'll learn more about our philanthropy and what we do every year for it. There will be a short slide show and then games to follow.
Friday--
This is bid night. It is invitation only. This will be discussed more during rush week.
Saturday--
This is an OPTIONAL beach day. We will have a cook out on the beach or at the bluffs. Members from fraternities will also be present to celebrate the girls who have been invited to pledge Zeta Psi Eta. All food costs will be covered by the sorority. We will also do laser tag that night if it's open.
