Passwords
The password for first-time sign-on for CICS is the created password that you have been given. You will be prompted to create a new password. There are specific requirements for the password and you need to refer to the CICS Password Requirements information.
The password for first-time sign-on for PMEN is the user-id. You will be prompted to create a new password.
If a person is having a problem with their first-time sign-on, check the PSWD DATE on the right near the top of PSED; if it is 010101, this user-id has never successfully accessed PMEN.
As a security precaution, all PMEN passwords expire every 90 days. CICS passwords (the first one) do not expire. Changing the password in PMEN (your second one) does not change the password in CICS. Likewise, changing your CICS password does not automatically change your PMEN password.
After six unsuccessful sign-on attempts, CICS will lock an account and you will need to contact an ITS Security Manager to have a new password created that you will use to login and then you will need to create your own password.
After ten unsuccessful sign-on attempts, PMEN will lock an account, and a WSM will need to reset the PMEN password to match the user-id. Once the password has been reset, the user will need to choose a new PMEN password. The system remembers the last two passwords for each user-id and users will be asked to choose something different.
WSM's can reset the PMEN password by entering the user-id on PSED and tabbing to the "RESET" field. Type “PAS”, type your PIN, and press F2 to reset the user’s password to be the same as their user-id. The next time the user signs-on to PMEN, they'll be prompted to create a new password.
PINs
A PIN is required for all WSM's and by applications such as transmitting submitted grades and transmitting approvals to award degrees.WSM's can generate new PINs by entering the user-id on PSED and tabbing to the "Reset" field. Type “PIN”, type your PIN, and press F2 to generate a new pin number. The new PIN number will be sent to the user’s UWF e-mail address overnight.
When a user is given access to the following transactions with the levels indicated, a PIN is automatically generated.
