Health Promotion Services Coordinator
I am excited to join the Wellness Services team in providing quality services to the students of UWF. My areas of interest are alcohol misuse and substance abuse. I received my Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from The University of Mississippi and later my Master’s degree in Health Promotion.
During my graduate program, I had the opportunity to work on a grant campaign that focused on preventing and reducing underage drinking and alcohol misuse on university campuses across Mississippi. Through this experience I realized how these issues adversely affect the lives of college students and the surrounding communities, but with the use of evidence-based health promotion strategies we can equip students with the tools necessary to make healthy lifestyle decisions. By working closely with university administrators and other prevention specialists, I learned the importance of addressing alcohol and drug misperceptions, increasing student knowledge, and ensuring students are aware of available resources.
I hope to bring what I have learned to UWF and use it to increase the overall health of our students. I look forward to working with the Peer Educators and collaborating with different departments on campus.
