In order to receive the new Web templates, departmental Web developers must first attend a two-part training program offered by Information Technology Services. Developers who attend the training program will gain the knowledge, tools and support they need to successfully use the templates. In addition, all developers will receive, assigned to their department, a license for Macromedia Dreamweaver to use in creating their Web sites.

Please note that all campus Web developers are  encouraged to use Dreamweaver as their primary Web development software; this will enable Information Technology Services and Marketing Communications to provide maximum support to developers if they require assistance in building their pages. Developers should consult with ITS if considering a Web development tool other than Dreamweaver; some tools, such as Microsoft FrontPage, are not compatible with UWF Web servers.

During the first two-hour session of the program, developers will receive an overview of the Web Presence Project, the Web templates, Web standards and the variety of options available for using the templates. All Web developers will then attend a second two-hour training session that will offer hands-on experience using Dreamweaver to build Web pages with the templates.

Upon completing session I and II of the training program, developers will become “certified” and will be given access to the Web page templates.

If for any reason a department does not feel that its staff has the needed skill-set to convert its Web site using the templates, contact Jaimie Woodard. The Web Team is available to assist with the initial build of departmental Web sites. Departments that choose to utilize this service will be responsible for providing a site organizational chart and all content.
