Mission
To create and maintain a dynamic Web environment that targets the university’s key audiences (publics) through compelling design, intuitive navigation, current content and consistent presentation, while reflecting the uniqueness of our learning environment.
1. Navigation
Goal: Establish consistent and intuitive navigation standards throughout all uwf.edu pages.
Imperatives:
- Provide UWF Web templates to university Web developers in standardized file formats.
- Enforce the use of a standards checklist by university Web developers that lists essential elements that must be included on each Web page, specifying placement, color and navigation of these elements.
- Ensure that external users can access the most sought-after information within three “clicks” from the UWF main page.
2. Design
Goal: Create consistent design, navigation and presentation of content throughout all uwf.edu pages.
Imperatives:
- Provide templates and style sheets in standardized file formats for Web developers. Templates will compliment the new design of uwf.edu main page.

3. Content
Goal: Develop a consistent message and “voice” for UWF Web content throughout all uwf.edu pages.

- Discourage Web developers from using non-approved taglines or slogans on individual, departmental Web pages.
- Enforce the use of standard style guidelines for editing text (Associated Press Style Guide), avoiding the use of acronyms not familiar to external users.
- Provide Web developers with approved message points that communicate UWF’s marketing strategy.
- Provide Web developers with template options that encourage consistent organization of content.
- Encourage users to develop academic-related content consistent with the university catalog.
4. Technical Standards
Goal: Formulate technical standards for developing and reviewing uwf.edu Web pages.
Imperatives:
- Provide training to university Web developers and Web contacts in using approved, standardized applications.
- Specify maximum file sizes for pages and individual graphic elements in order to optimize download times.
- Require that all uwf.edu pages be tested and functional on all major operating systems (platforms) and Web browsers.
- Provide guidelines to Web developers to help ensure that external users can easily find uwf.edu Web pages and individual content by using search engines, including the UWF search function.
- Provide specifications to Web developers to meet minimum ADA standards.
5. Maintenance
Goal: Ensure that uwf.edu has current, useful, accurate and frequently updated content throughout all pages.
