Identify migration team: Indentify the team of individuals who will help you review web content and prepare your site for CMS migration. If you are a team of one, allow yourself more time for the process and seek assistance if needed.
Create a Site Map of current website(s): Make a written outline or site map of your entire departmental website, so that you can see an expanded view of your navigation. Reorder pages as necessary to make your site more user-friendly and intuitive. Remove links and pages that are outdated or irrelevant.
Backup all web folder content: Make an offline backup copy of all of the contents in your web folder. We recommend copying the files to your departmental H drive, or burning them to a DVD.
Create a clean, migration-ready website: Review your web content and navigation to ensure that everything represented on your current website should be migrated into the CMS.
Clean folders and appropriately store backup files: Ensure your web directory (drive) only contains files that will be migrated into the CMS.
