ISM3011 - E-Business System Fundamentals

Fourth Project Information

This project requires that you again use the Proj3data.mdb data file. This time, you are going to develop a sales analysis report for your boss that examines the sales amounts (net amt) for Arizona, Nevada, and California for both the Retail and Wholesale sales amounts. Determine total retail and wholesale sales amounts for the three states. Develop a graphical representation of the sales amounts. Finally, using Microsoft Word, develop a short sales analysis memorandum to the Vice President of Sales that discusses the sales in the three states. The report must include the graph(s) that you created in the spreadsheet.

Here is a "suggestion." Your actual analysis of this data is not critically important since this is not really your data or your company. You should, however, try to analyze the data to look for specific patterns, differences, and similarities among and within the states and sales categories. What is of paramount importance for this assignment is the use of the graph(s) to support your analysis conclusions. Your analysis narrative should specifically reference the graph(s). Number the graph(s) in your report, then reference them by number. Be explicit and specific. Make this analysis "stand alone" so that your boss can read it and understand the specific point(s) you wish to make without you having to stand over his/her shoulder and explain it. The more specifically you tie the graphs to the narrative the better you will do. You learned all of this in your business communications class. Yes, you did. I checked. Quit sandbagging me!

You must send both the spreadsheet and the Word document to me as attachments. Use our file naming convention:

FirstNameLastNameProj4.xls and FirstNameLastNameProj4.doc
