ISM3011 - E-Business Systems Fundamentals
First Exam Procedures
The first exam will be conducted at 1:30 PM on Thursday, 30 May, in the SAIL computer lab in building 79. A section of the lab will be reserved for the exam and a person from the Management & MIS Department will proctor the exam. I will be monitoring my e-mail during the exam so you can ask questions as necessary. An extra hour will be allocated for the exam so any problems that may arise can resolved without a time penalty.
Sign-In Required
You MUST sign in with the exam proctor from the Management and MIS Department. You must sign in BEFORE the exam starts. Failure to do so will cause your exam to be rejected and you will receive a score of zero on the exam. NO EXCUSES - get to the SAIL lab a few minutes early to sign in.
When the exam starts you will download the Word Exam and Answer Sheet. It provides the exam questions and format for entering your exam answers. You will use Word to enter your answers, save the document using your name (first name and last name, no spaces), then e-mail the file to me at: wbeatty@uwf.edu You will have two hours to complete the exam and e-mail it to me.
I will grade your exam and return it to you via e-mail.
Click on this link to download an example exam Word document that you can use to practice taking the first exam. (If you are using Windows Explorer, right mouse click, then select the "Save target as ..." option and specify the desired directory on the "C" drive for downloading) I suggest that sometime before the exam you e-mail the sample exam Word document to me - just to be sure you understand what I require on the exam and to be sure that you can use your e-mail to send Word documents as attachments. I will answer your e-mail to let you know that I have received your sample exam. Go to the SAIL lab to practice. If your e-mail doesn't work from the SAIL lab, now is the time to discover this and correct the situation. Argomail works from the SAIL lab. If you use another e-mail service it is your responsibility to ensure that it supports Word documents as attachments.
It is YOUR responsibility to practice the exam submission - Not being able to send a Word document as an attachment at the end of the exam is NOT AN EXCUSE.
During the exam you can have one 3" X 5" notecard with anything you wish to write on ONE SIDE of it.
Write your name on the other side of the card, and turn it in to the exam proctor after you have completed the exam and e-mailed your answers to me.
The first exam will focus upon the text chapters 1 through 6. Your job is to read these chapters, including the Real World Cases and the vignettes in the beige boxes. Use the notes in the web chapters as a guide, focusing particular attention on the topics that I discuss in the web chapters. All terms and phrases that are in bold print in the text chapters are also worthy of your attention.
The exam will consist of:
- Ten "fill in the blank" questions, each worth 3 points. I will provide a "word bank" of words and phrases to use. Yes, there will be more words and phrases than questions.
- Ten "multiple guess" questions, each worth 3 points. You will select the "best" answer from the four provided.
- Two short answer discussion questions, each worth 20 points, that focus upon manageral understanding of concepts developed in the text and in the web chapter notes. I usually have three questions, and you select two of them to answer.
