Welcome to the University of West Florida
Students receiving benefits from the federal Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA) constitute over ten percent of all students attending the University. Many faculty and staff members have also received educational support from the DVA.
UWF Veterans Services Office
The University's Veterans Services Office (VSO)
is associated with the Office of the Registrar, not the DVA. It is located
in Building 18, Room 174, and may be reached by calling (850) 474-2262.
This office is the main point of contact for students receiving educational assistance from the DVA. VSO has a professional staff augmented by veteran peer counselors to assist students by providing information about entitlements, filing claims to the DVA, and certifying enrollments. Students can receive peer counseling for personal and academic concerns, as well as referrals to appropriate University and community agencies.
The VSO is responsible for monitoring the academic progress of all students receiving educational benefits from the DVA. Student receiving benefits from the DVA must contact this office during registration and whenever changes occur to initially reported class schedules.
