	<title>Department of Art Expands Palette</title>
	<description>
The University of West Florida Department of Art has expanded its palette—students now have the opportunity to choose pixels rather than paint to express their art. The department offers two new program specializations: Digital Art and Graphic Design. Students who specialize in digital art may work on software-based cinema which involves interactive, non-linear narrative using contemporary video and graphics technologies. Next semester, Professor Thomas Asmuth will teach a digital multimedia class where students will have the opportunity to work on physical computing projects.

	<title>UWF is Building Champions for Life</title>

Since opening its door in 1967, the University of West Florida has worked to build a strong Athletics program capable of competing at the highest levels. More than 40 years later, the Argonauts offer 13 nationally ranked NCAA Division II sport teams and uphold an unsurpassed reputation for excellence in athletics and academics. The many successes of UWF Athletics may have gone unnoticed in the past, but beginning this fall, the Argonauts are making their presence known. On Sept. 21, the university launched an Athletics Awareness Campaign, "Building Champions for Life," aimed at informing the Northwest Florida community and beyond of the caliber of its athletics programs, student athletes and alumni.

	<description>
Anticipation and the excitement of new beginnings eclipsed the rain that fell on hundreds of new and returning students as they moved into the residence halls at the University of West Florida Wednesday. Traveling from near and far, students eagerly unloaded their boxes and belongings and hauled them into their new homes. Accompanied by parents and loved ones, and welcomed by dozens of helpful UWF staff and resident advisors, moving never appeared so fun and easy.

	<title>Students Get Hands Dirty Excavating 2,000-Year-Old Indian Village</title>
	<description>
			"Terrestrial archaeology is hard to teach without getting your hands dirty," said Larry James, UWF graduate student. That's exactly why the University of West Florida Archaeology Program requires all students to gain hands-on experience working outside of the classroom at actual archaeological dig sites. This summer, UWF undergraduate and graduate students are excavating a 2,000-year-old Indian Village in downtown Pensacola, as well as conducting research at dig sites on Tyndall Air Force Base and in Sapelo Island, Ga. Led by Archaeology Institute Assistant Professor Victor Thompson and Chairperson Judy Bense, in association with the West Florida Historic Preservation, Inc., the field school gives students unmatched experience in training for their future careers as archaeologists.

Hoping to raise awareness and inform the public about ways to curb the affects of global warming, the University of West Florida Student Environmental Action Society (SEAS) recently kicked-off a new campaign.
