CONSTRUCTION PROJECT UPDATES
February 27, 2004 ACADEMIC AND ADMINISTRATIVE BUILDINGS Bldg 18 and 52 Moves: Bldg 18 moves complete. Wall panels for rooms 146 and 149 in building 52 scheduled for delivery on March 2nd. Installation to follow. All work to be complete by March 15. Contact Earl Smith x 2001, esmith@uwf.edu. Bldg. 10: ADA Entry upgrades, including automatic door openers, will be installed in building 10 to facilitate access to the President's suite, and second-floor East entrance. Additional work includes new entrance on the north-side, first floor. Construction should begin late March or early April. Bldg. 85/86 IAQ Corrections: This project involves removal of existing guttering and roof vents, sealing attic space with insulation, and reinstalling vents and gutters. Anticipate construction beginning March 29th with completion by the first week in May. Majority of work will be on exterior of building with minimal work inside. Sidewalk Repairs: Project consists of replacing sections of concrete walkway across campus that present safety hazards. Bldg 70 Voice Data Rewire: The work includes the premise wiring upgrade for the entire building. Bids were received on February 24th and are being evaluate for award. Construction is scheduled to start the first week in March. The proposed completion date is after spring break. Bldg 77, ATC Lab: Modular furniture contractor is behind schedule and there are missing parts of the partitions and hutch doors. Scheduled delivery of the missing or unacceptable modular furniture parts is at a minimum of four weeks. Contractor has completed their construction and we are waiting for a firm date from Daniels to install the projectors and screens. Contact Chuck Summers x3139, csummers@uwf.edu. Contractor: ESA South Building 207 (Gazebo near 54): Structural repairs are 90% complete. Roofing work will commence when weather permits. Contractor: Toler Construction and Edwards Roofing. Health, Leisure & Sports Facility: Erection of structural steel has started while work on concrete foundations, slabs and masonry continues; A REMINDER -Handicapped parking for the natatorium has been relocated to east of building 54 for the duration of construction. Oak Grove parking is for contractors only. Project is on schedule with project completion scheduled for January 2005. Construction Manager: The Morette Company International House: The IH portion of the overall facility is approximately
79% complete with interior sheet rock and other trades being installed
at this time. The Japan House is approximately 85% complete. Temporary
heat is being provided to complete the special tearoom interior finishes.
Japanese Garden is approx. 98% complete. Exterior site work is being accomplished
as weather permits. Substantial completion date scheduled for the mid-May

Inc. CAMPUS GROUNDS, UTILITIES & MISC.: Campus Entrance Sign, Ph I of II: Work to the sign has been completed. Weather pending (moisture and temperature) the inset letters "University of West Florida" in the cast stone will be painted a dark bronze color. The stone temperature must be warm enough to accept the paint and be completely dry. There are also minor lighting adjustments. Chilled Water and Hot Water Piping Replacement Phase II & III: Project replaces current underground central hot and chilled water piping to buildings served by the central plant. Soccer Field Press Box: A 6' x 16' wood press box structure has been constructed on the south side of the Track and Soccer Field Complex. Final Inspection scheduled the week of March 1, 2004. Contractor: Trammell Construction Athletic Sports Complex Fencing Project: Work consists of providing new perimeter fencing around this complex to control access and vandals from damaging the various playing fields. Contractor: Tornado Fencing Bldg 54, Planter and Sidewalk Repairs: Scheduled to start this week of March 1, 2004 pending amount of rain. Contractor: Anderson Construction Parking Lot 22: PO has been issued for this project. Scheduled this week to survey the site before commencing construction. PROJECTS ACADEMIC AND HISTORICAL BUILDINGS Bowden Building 1st Floor Classrooms: Construction of Bowden Building 1st floor high-tech classrooms. Project Underway. Furnishings and equipment ordered. Village-Wide Repairs: Project underway. $334,000 to repair wood, paint and other miscellaneous repairs/restorations for the entire Pensacola Village Complex. Wescon is GC.
