To identify achievements and differentiating qualities of the University of
West Florida, effectively communicate these qualities as a brand promise,
and ensure a university experience that meets the expectations of those we
serve.
Contact Joy Ward, director of advertising
and marketing, for assistance with the purchase, design, production or placement
of paid advertisements on behalf of the university. These include display ads
in newspapers, magazines, guides and outdoor ads, as well as electronic media
such as radio, television or Web advertising. Campus community members who wish
to place paid advertisements for the university should contact Joy Ward (except
for personnel recruitment ads, which should be directed to Human Resources).
Vendors selling advertising to the university should contact Joy Ward.
Contact Janice Cooper, director of communications,
for assistance with internal or external communications and media relations
(such as press releases and public service announcements). If a member of the
university would like to inform the campus community or external public of newsworthy
accomplishments, public events, human-interest stories, emergencies or crises,
contact Janice Cooper. For placement of items in ThE News, Fountain, or Alumline,
contact Jason Whited, managing editor.
Members of the media who would like to interview a specific person at UWF, who
would like an expert comment about events, or want an explanation of events
related to the university, etc., may contact Janice Cooper for assistance.
Contact Rachel Croker, customer service
manager, for customer service compliments or suggestions for improvement about
the university. Customer service means treating each other (faculty, staff and
students) and our guests with professional courtesy, respect, caring and offering
the best assistance we can provide. Please contact Rachel Croker to let us know
how we are performing with telephone etiquette, giving directions on campus,
providing information you are seeking and similar customer service issues.
Contact Nicole Gislason, director of Web
Marketing, for information regarding the UWF Web site (uwf.edu).
She supports a team of programers & designers, who develop and coordinate
the interactive marketing efforts for UWF. The
group provides services to UWF and to the Haas Center for Business Research.
Contact the Welcome Center for assistance with directions to the UWF campus,
directions to people and places on campus, parking pass requests and information
about upcoming events at the university. Members of the UWF community may contact
Rachel Croker to request the display of
announcements on the electronic marquee.
Submit updates or corrections to department listings in the UWF campus telephone
directory. Use FirstMate
to submit updates or corrections to individual employee listings in the UWF
campus telephone directory.
Contact Connie Marse, director of publications,
to arrange for graphic design and editorial services for university publications
(such as promotional brochures, newsletters, posters, annual reports, etc.)
directed toward internal and external audiences of UWF. For assistance with
commercial printing specifications and price quotes, contact Connie Marse. Representatives
of printing companies who would like to provide printing services to UWF should
contact Connie Marse.
Stephanie
Clay, creative director, holds a bachelor's in fine art in communication
design from Baylor University. She joined the UWF staff in January 2000 after
relocating to Northwest Florida from San Antonio, Texas. As creative director,
Stephanie designs and produces various promotional materials for the university.
Stephanie oversees the creative aspects of publication development. Her background
includes design, writing and editing, most recently managing employee communications
at a large corporation based in San Antonio.
Janice
Cooper, director of Communications, joined the department in January
2000 as editor. She is now responsible for administering a communication strategy
for the university, including media relations, internal/external communications,
employee communications and issue management. Janice's experience includes the
development of print and electronic publications and products, as well as advertising,
media relations and Web site management. She holds a bachelor's degree in international
relations, Latin American politics, from Randolph-Macon Woman's College in Lynchburg,
Va.
Pat
Crawford, assistant vice president for Marketing Communications,
oversees media relations, employee communications, university marketing and
advertising, publications, graphic design services, customer relations, and
brand management. He also serves as general manager of WUWF 88.1 FM, the university's
public radio station.
Pat holds a bachelor's degree in economics from Hampden-Sydney College and a
master's degree in public administration from the University of Arizona.
Rachel
Croker, customer service manager, is responsible for client relations
and customer service issues. Also, she is developing process improvement techniques
with total quality management for the university. Rachel is working toward a
bachelor's degree in communication arts with an ethics emphasis at UWF.
Nicole
Gislason, director of Web Marketing, is responsible for planning
and administering a comprehensive Web-based marketing strategy for the university
by utilizing technology to build relationships that serve prospective and current
students, faculty, staff, community members, alumni and researchers. Previously,
she served as the assistant director for business technology at the UWF Haas
Center for Business Research. Prior to that, she served as the digital media
coordinator for the Haas Center. She holds a bachelor's degree in business administration
from UWF.
Lynn
Gould, art director, has been a staff member since 1983. She is responsible
for design and production of a variety of publications for the university. A
staff member since 1983, Lynn attended the University of California Los Angeles
for three years and completed her bachelor's degree in studio art at UWF.
Connie
Marse, director of publications. As part of the university's marketing
and image development team, Connie oversees the development and production of
UWF publications and serves as their executive editor. She joined the university
family in 1980 as a copywriter for the alumni newsletter and has since served
as editor for various university publications. She earned both her bachelor's
and master's degrees in communication arts from UWF.
Alesia
Ross, customer service specialist at the Welcome Center, is responsible
for linking internal and external customers to every aspect of information regarding
UWF. She holds her associate's degree in business from Pensacola Junior College
and is working towards her bachelor's in public relations at UWF.
Deborah
Tripp, customer service specialist, splits her time between the Welcome
Center and Marketing Communications where one of her main responsibilities is
to assist with the department's job tracking system. Previously, she was a data
processing control specialist for University Advancement. She is working towards
her associate of arts degree in networking services technology at Pensacola
Junior College.
Joy
Ward, director of Advertising and Marketing, has been with the
university since December, 1993. Joy is responsible for advertising and integrated
marketing strategy with regard to image development and enrollment growth
for the university. Previously, Joy worked 11 years with Gannett Corporation
as an ad designer then as creative services manager for two of its newspapers,
Florida Today and the Pensacola News Journal. She has a bachelor's degree
in fine arts from the University of South Alabama.
Jason
Whited, managing editor, joined the department in August 2001. He
is the editor for AlumLine, the University of West Florida's alumni publication,
the Fountain, the monthly newsletter for UWF faculty and staff, and ThE News,
UWF's electronic newsletter. Jason's experience includes development and management
of newspapers and national military magazines, and he also has experience as
a reporter and a public relations specialist for the Air Force. He holds a bachelor's
degree in Russian and history from the University of Florida.
