UWF LOGISTICS TEAM PLACES THIRD IN NATION
PENSACOLA - Four University of West Florida marketing and economics students traveled to Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio April 6 and 7 to compete in the First Annual Ohio State University Transportation and Logistics Association Case Competition, where they placed third among colleges and universities from all over the country.
Students Alyssa Crawley, Bobby Kemp, Michael McGee and Amanda Watson developed a solution to a real-world transportation logistics problem involving DaimlerChrysler. They analyzed the problem for five hours and presented their solution to a panel of judges from Shell, Goodyear, Unilever and DaimlerChrysler. The UWF team members, many who are pursuing certificates in supply chain logistics while earning their bachelor's degrees, were applauded for developing the most creative and comprehensive solution to the case and were invited to participate in the competition next year.
"I am so very proud of the performance of our UWF team," said Scott Keller, associate professor of marketing and logistics. "They covered every important part of the
case and came up with a unique, comprehensive and viable solution to the case problem."
The students also attended the Ohio State University Transportation and Logistics Association Banquet where they met managers from DaimlerChrysler, Shell, Owens Corning, Unilever, Limitedbrands, Rolls-Royce, Target and many others.
"They had a great and productive learning experience at the competition," said Keller. "We were able to compete against some of the world's very best logistics students and emerge at the winners' platform."
