Timothy Kennedy

A native of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Tim serves as the Director of Education and Community Outreach for Pensacola Opera as well as an adjunct professor for the University of West Florida. His various credits include Stage Director, Music Director, and Performer. He recently served as the stage director and music director for UWF's production of She Loves Me and has served as music director for productions of Kiss Me Kate for UWF, and Godspell, Goblin Market, and Making It Up As We Go Along for Louisiana State University. Kennedy's other Stage Direction credits include Hurricane Monologues, a joint original production of Pensacola Opera and Pensacola Little Theatre, Die Fledermaus for the Teche Theatre, An Aesop Odyssey and The Three Little Pigs for Pensacola Opera, The Tales of Hoffman, The Marriage of Figaro, The Magic Flute, Girl Talk and A Noteworthy Tale for Pensacola Opera Camp, and L'enfant et les sortileges and Little Red Riding Hood for LSU Opera. Kennedy's varied international performance career includes musical theater, operatic, and concert performances. He will be seen as Doctor Grenvil in Pensacola Opera's upcoming production of La Traviata and will be the baritone soloist for the Brahms' Requiem with the Northwest Florida Symphony Orchestra. His other singing credits include Fiorello in Il Barbiere di Siviglia and Prince Yamadori and the Imperial Commissioner in Madama Butterfly for Pensacola Opera and the title role in Mendelssohn's Elijah for First Baptist Church in New York City. He also performed as the baritone soloist in Haydn's Paukenmesse in Austria on the Graz Music Festival and the Linz Choral Festival. Other concert repertoire includes the Mozart's C Minor Mass and Copland's Old American Songs with the Amarillo Symphony as well as appearances with the Shreveport Summer Music Festival and at High Point University. Operatically, he has sung with Natchez Festival Opera, Pensacola Opera, and New Opera Festival di Roma in Italy. His roles include Njegus in The Merry Widow, Spreche in Die Zauberflöte, and Bartolo in Il Barbiere di Siviglia and Le Nozze di Figaro. In musical theater, he appeared in the new musical reading of Far from America with New York University's Tisch program. He has also performed with the MacHaydn Theater in roles including Colonel Pickering in My Fair Lady, Evelyn Oakleigh in Anything Goes, Mayor Shinn in Music Man and Fyedka in Fiddler on the Roof; and with the Depot Theatre in productions of The Mikado and Annie Get Your Gun. Kennedy received his Master of Music degree with a concentration in Choral Conducting from Louisiana State University where he also earned his B.M. and B.M.E.
