The School of Fine, Performing and Communication Arts (SFPCA) is a comprehensive academic unit that celebrates the study of fine arts alongside the study of the art and science of human communication in all its forms.
With nearly 1200 majors, the SFPCA at UWF studies, teaches, and creates the means of expression that enable human beings to build, nurture and sustain communities. In the SFPCA, students learn by doing, through performances, concerts, speechmaking, service learning, workforce development initiatives, exhibitions, strategic project development, internships, and much more. The faculty of the SFPCA are dedicated to facilitating teaching and learning focused on preparing students for work and life.
Why choose the School of Fine, Performing and Communication Arts?
The SFPCA functions in two facilities on the UWF main campus. Building 36 houses the Department of Communication Arts and features a digital television studio, journalism computer lab, advertising design lab, radio studio lab, podcast production facility, as well as an all AVID digital media editing lab. Building 82, the Center for Fine and Performing Arts houses the Departments of Art, Music and Theatre. The facility features the Main Stage Theatre, UWF Music Hall, Lab Theatre and TAG (The Art Gallery), as well as a variety of program specific learning spaces.
The school currently includes the Department of Art, Department of Communication Arts, Department of Music, Department of Theatre and Center for Fine and Performing Arts.
