The School of Allied Health and Life Sciences of the University of West Florida is pleased to welcome and sponsor Stephanie L. Reedy and Melanie A. Sutton to present a series of hands-on, interactive workshops covering a variety of Healthcare IT. Our workshops class sizes are kept small to ensure individual attention and customized instruction.
Attending these workshops is a great way for healthcare and business professionals, as well as the general public to train themselves on these popular tools to improve overall job productivity and communication, or retrain for a new position.
The workshops take place at the School of Allied Health and Life Sciences' Educational Facility located on the 3rd floor of the Payne Building on the Sacred Heart Hospital campus (5149 N. 9th Avenue, Suite 255, Pensacola, FL 32504). Directions can be found below.
Please also find information specific to each workshop by following the links provided below. To attend, simply complete the Workshop Registration Form (linked above) and return it to the School of Allied Health and Life Sciences, as indicated. Space is limited to 4 participants per workshop so please act quickly to assure your place. Questions regarding attendance should be addressed to Stephanie L. Reedy at sreedy@uwf.edu. On-site trainings and trainings for larger groups also available upon request.

Stephanie L. Reedy is an adjunct instructor and currently serves as Academic Advisor and Community Outreach Coordinator. She graduated with a Master's degree in Software Engineering from the Computer Science Department at the University of West Florida in 2002 and recently received her Graduate Certificate in Medical Informatics in 2009. She also attended The University of Montana receiving a Bachelor's degree in Zoology. Her interests include information technology in healthcare and technology education, as well as environmental, wildlife, energy conservation, botany, and zoology. She has taught various courses at UWF as an Instructor since 1999, personal computing applications, web page design, introduction to system administration, and eBusiness infrastructure management. She has also worked in some form of system administration for over 15 years. She currently teaches online courses such as Medical Terminology and Introduction to Bioinformatics and modules in Healthcare Quality, Statistics & Database Management, Electronic Clinical Systems, and Health Information Systems. She maintains the web presence for the Certificate in Medical Informatics program and the Medical Informatics Resources sites and also coordinates workshops in IT training at healthcare organizations as part of SAHLS's community outreach and workforce development efforts in Northwest Florida. Stephanie is also President of Green Wolf Computer Education Resource, Inc., a company providing computer application training and program development, PowerPoint presentation creation, and web site development. Melanie A. Sutton is currently a tenured Associate Professor in SAHLS and serves as the Co-Director of the Certificate in Medical Informatics Program at UWF and as one of the co-developers of SAHLS's Medical Informatics Resource Site. She teaches courses in medical terminology, bioinformatics, health information systems, medical informatics, and computer applications in public health. Her research interests and publications span these areas, as well as computer vision, robotics, digital mammography, and web-based instruction and assessment. In 2008, Dr. Sutton received the U-Make A Difference Award from the UWF Excellent Matters Faculty and Staff Reward and Recognition Program, and in 2007, she received an Appreciation Award from the Pensacola chapter of the American Society of Safety Engineers for helping to promote safety and health along the Gulf Coast. She received the Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching and Advising Award in 2002 and the Outstanding Instructor of the Semester Award in 1998. In 1999-2003 she served as the Principal Investigator of a $200,000 grant from The Whitaker Foundation for the project, Development and Assessment of Protocols for Efficient Utilization of Large-Scale Digital Mammography Databases. While pursuing a Master's degree in Computer Science at the University of South Florida (USF), she worked with Harris Space Systems in Rockledge, Florida, on the CORE project, a redesign of the Launch Processing System for the Space Shuttle. She subsequently received her Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering at USF in the area of computer vision and robotics under Drs. Kevin Bowyer and Louise Stark. The Advisory Committee to the School of Allied Health and Life Sciences consists of members from health-related programs at UWF and members from the regional health care and public health communities. This committee is responsible for identifying and evaluating educational programs designed to fill regional workforce and public health needs. On-line surveys are employed where appropriate to gain valuable input from the community. General comments and suggestions regarding the educational initiatives planned by the School are welcome and appreciated and may be communicated by contacting us.
