The School of Allied Health and Life Sciences is committed to meeting local, regional, and national workforce needs and currently offers a series of half-day and full-day workshops and training sessions to members of the health care community in a variety of areas, including public health, nursing, computer applications in health care, health care ethics, and occupational safety and health. Workshops are taught at the School's off-campus site, located on the campus of Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola, Florida (directions provided below). As needed, students are provided with UWF computer accounts and access to a computer laboratory to complete workshop assignments and on-line modules. Information is also provided in each workshop on documentation required to be eligible to receive CEUs and/or CMEs for participation. Workshops may also be helpful to gain prerequisite skills for various programs within the School, including the Certificate in Medical Informatics, Certificate in Public Health, Certificate in Health Care Ethics, or Master of Public Health programs. Half-day workshops typically last 4 hours. In select workshops, additional follow-up materials are provided on a secure Website that participants may access and use following the workshop, from home or from work. Back-to-back half-day workshops are also scheduled during the year for out-of-town participants, for those seeking full-day training.
If you would like to provide input to us regarding workshops you are interested in, please feel free to e-mail msutton@uwf.edu.
