
The Certificate in Medical Informatics requires the FOUR courses listed on our Courses page. Please note that there are three REQUIRED courses (Introduction to Medical Informatics, Electronic Clinical Record Systems and Introduction to Bioinformatics) and one elective Special Topics course (with various choices emphasizing different dimensions of public health informatics).
Students interested in pursuing the undergraduate Certificate in Medical Informatics register for the 4000 level version of the courses while students interested in the graduate Certificate register for the for the 5000/6000 level version.
Please note that if you are interested in earning a Graduate Certificate in Medical Informatics, all courses must be taken at the graduate level.

Please keep in mind that many of our courses are only scheduled ONCE or twice per year. If you are considering courses as part of this program, we strongly encourage you to complete the Certificate in Medical Informatics application process as soon as possible and then begin registering for courses immediately upon acceptance.
If you are not sure which courses to register for in a semester, we suggest the following advice:
For Summer semesters, we suggest you register as soon as possible and no later than May 1 (even for courses that start later in the summer).

If you are working full-time, we suggest you only take 1-2 courses per semester, with the priorities in summer semesters being those labeled HIGH PRIORITY above that are only scheduled 1 time per year.
