About Dr. Sjolander

Dr Richard Sjolander is Professor and Chair of the Department of Marketing and Economics at the College of Business, University of West Florida. Professor Sjolander received his Ph.D. from Michigan State University in Resource Development/Resource Economics, with emphases in Marketing and Transportation/Distribution. He also holds visiting professorship at Nyenrode University in the Netherlands and is a frequent lecturer at the Mikkeli Polytechnic Institute in Mikkeli, Finland.

Dr. Sjolander is an active educator. He has received the distinguished teaching award at the University of West Florida and numerous other accolades for his teaching and research. Professor Sjolander teaches both the undergraduate Marketing and Economics and Masters in Business Administration programs. He teaches primarily in the areas of International Business and Marketing Strategy and Management.

Professor Sjolander has published more than 40 peer reviewed articles, appearing in such publications as the Journal of Public Policy and Marketing, Scandinavian Journal of Management, Economic Development Review, and European Journal of Marketing. Professor Sjolander serves on the editorial boards of several academic journals, and is a frequent speaker at scholarly meetings.

Dr. Sjolander works on a consulting basis with a number of organizations, primarily in the private sector.
