Robot-Draw:
Instructions for Conversion into an Image File
Since the VRML viewers do not allow direct print of their display,
the following steps may be used to convert the VRML display into a regular
2-dimensional image. These steps rely on regular Windows tricks
and have been successfuly tested:
-
Once the view on the VRML Viewer display is to your satisfaction, press
Alt-Print Screen to copy the whole VRML display window into the clipboard.
-
Open MsPaint (a regular windows application) or any software that can handle
and edit images.
-
Open a new image (click on File/New) in MsPaint and paste the clipboard
(Click on Edit/Paste).
-
Use the selection tool in MsPaint to select only that part of the display
that contains the robot image.
-
Copy the selection to the clipboard. (click on Edit/Copy)
-
Open a new image (again use File/New).
-
Paste the clipboard into the new image (use Edit/Paste) again.
-
Edit the image by changing the background color, adding text, or any other
modification you wish to make.
-
Save the image (click on File/Save or File/Save As...).
Note: MsPaint.exe is a built-in bitmap image processing software for the
Windows Operating System. It can only operate on bitmap files which take
up a lot of storage memory. Any other image software like Paint Shop Pro
can be used instead of MsPaint and the resulting images can then be saved in the
much leaner gif or jpeg formats. If anyone knows of a better way to obtain images from a VRML display,
please let me know.
