O. Ronald Gray, Ph.D.
Teaching Philosophy

I feel a responsibility to my students which goes beyond the immediate subject matter, classroom time, and office hours. It is my privilege to assist in your preparation for a professional career as an accountant. I perceive my role as that of a mentor. My one overriding objective is to assist students in their preparation for the challenge that lies ahead as a professional accountant.

Learning is a two-way process involving interaction between teacher and student. In my view, a student has the right to expect the following from a teacher:

  1. Professional competence and preparation
  2. Intellectual challenge
  3. Personal concern, fairness, and honesty

Correspondingly, I expect a student to meet certain performance standards, viz:

  1. Thorough preparation of reading and written assignments for each class
  2. Active class participation
  3. Class attendance
