William (also known as Bill) is the Executive Director of Student Life and has been at the University of West Florida since 1972. He oversees the Recreation and Sports Services Department, as well as the University Commons and Student Activities Department. He is also responsible for recruiting and supervising twenty-three full time employees, twelve Graduate Assistants, and 259 student employees.
Bill has supported the tremendous growth of UWF's Recereation and Sports Services. Bill was the Chair of the Field House Renovation and the New Building Committee that is responsible for the new Health, Leisure, and Sports Facility (which opened in the summer of 2005) and for renovations to the existing Field House Facility.
Bill has participated in many special events, holding positions such as Chair, Director, Coordinator or committee member for events that include: Pensacola Sports Association Board Member, Volleyball Pensacola Director/Board Member, The Pensacola Sports Festival, Escambia County Florida Community Games, Pensacola Mardi Gras Market Day, and Pensacola Seafood Festival. Bill has graduated from five National Executive Institues for NIRSA. He has also chaired the NIRSA School for Recreational Sports Management. He has been recognized mulitple times for his servcie to the University, and to the community. He was awarded with The Marion Viccars Prize Award for Outstanding Administration in 1992, and the NIRSA Region II Award of Merit in 1994. Most recently, in 2003 the William M. Healey Endowed Scholarship was created in his honor. Bill has two daughters: Rachel and Mary Caitlin.
