Welcome
Welcome to the Department of Accounting and Finance at the University of West Florida. The Department offers three undergraduate degree programs in Accounting and Finance, and the Master of Accountancy. Students enrolled in our program are a diverse, and hard working group. Students who have successfully completed our degree programs have gone to work for international, national and regional firms such as Shell Services, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Winn-Dixie, and Saltmarsh, Cleaveland and Gund.

Our programs place a strong emphasis on the development of analytical, communication, and presentation skills.


Faculty
There are seventeen members of the faculty of the Department of Accounting and Finance. They are a diverse group that is eminently qualified. Our faculty takes great pride in the fact that not only are they academically qualified, but they also have professional experience in the fields that they teach. Undergraduate Programs
The B.S.B.A. in Accountancy provides a student with a broad background in business and an in-depth preparation leading to careers in professional accountancy, auditing, tax, management accounting, and accounting information systems.

The B.S.B.A. in Finance prepares students for careers in corporate financial management, financial institutions, and financial planning. The program also serves students who wish to pursue the Certificate in Financial Planning (CFP).

The B.S.B.A. in Finance/Financial Services Track prepares students for the competitive environment of banking, investments, personal financial planning, real estate, insurance, and more.


Graduate Program
The purpose of the Master of Accountancy is to develop the student's:
     Conceptual understanding of current and emergingtechnical issues facing the
          accounting profession;
     Advanced technical skills in the area of elective concentration; and
     Research and communication skills commensurate with the requirements of the
          accounting profession.


The Master of Accountancy is designed to prepare students for careers in public accounting as auditors, consultants, and tax practitioners; in industry as financial and operational managers; and in government in a variety of roles. The emphasis on writing and speaking when combined with the emphasis on analysis and advanced technical information, is intended to prepare our graduates to pursue the professional opportunities of their choice.
