If you are having trouble finding research articles related to your research topic:
The UWF Library has published several tutorials about finding research articles. You can access the tutorials under the heading Research Modules on the Online Tutorials page of the library website: http://library.uwf.edu/Research/OnlineTutorials/Tutorials.htm.
Use the ELi Research Guides on the library website (http://library.uwf.edu/Research/Guides/Guides.htm). The research guides group resources together by subject area. Click the appropriate subject and topic for a listing of sources that you can search for articles.
You can then locate the sources in the library (or from the library website). Contact the library staff if you need assistance. The contact information is located on the Reference page of the library website (http://library.uwf.edu/About/Reference/Reference.htm).
When you retrieve an article from one of the
databases listed on the library website (http://library.uwf.edu/databases/index.shtml),
the article may contain the keywords or terms used to categorize the
article. You can use these descriptors to find other articles related to
your topic. For example, suppose that I wanted to find research articles
related to multiple-choice and essay tests. I could search
education-related databases using the search terms "multiple-choice test" and
"essay test". By reviewing the keywords from one of the articles
I retrieved, I might find that multiple-choice test items are also referred to
as: (a) close-ended, (b) closed, (c) multiple choice (versus multiple-choice),
and (d) objective test items.
Not all databases list keywords or descriptors with articles. Also, some databases refer to them as "related terms", "subjects", "broader terms", "narrower terms", or "index terms". If you have trouble finding the descriptors in a particular database, contact the library staff for assistance. (The contact information is located on the Reference page of the library website (http://library.uwf.edu/About/Reference/Reference.htm).
The Reference staff at the Pace library can help you locate research articles. The contact information for the Reference staff is located on the Reference page of the library website (http://library.uwf.edu/About/Reference/Reference.htm).
